• Introduction to Broadcast Station Imaging

I've spent the last few weeks working with David Childers from Broadcasting World on a guide to help you understand a little bit more on how to use station imaging.

David approached me to help him write the guide 'Introduction To Broadcast Station Imaging', and I'm pleased to say you can now download the guide by clicking here.

Brodcast imaging relates to radio jingles, beds, sfx and other audio elements you hear on the radio that are not the music tracks the station plays!

The guide looks at broadcast imaging from different aspects, including using the right voice, the right style, and tips on how you can use different types of imaging with your presentation and station output.

It was a real pleasure to work with David on this, and I myself hope to release a new guide for you in the near future.

  • Heard by Parents, Teachers & Children across the UK

As a freelancer, you get to work on a lot of different projects. In my line of work as radio imaging producer & audio producer, I get to do a wide variety of editing. It's not all about adding the whizzes and bangs to your next station package.

A few weeks ago I worked on a project for Pearson, a publisher here in the UK. A three hour recording session was recorded by a company down the road from where I'm based, and I collected the audio shortly after. The aim was simple - master the audio by removing background noise by process of EQ & Noisegate, as well as save each individual section of audio recorded in both WAV for the recording studio for their records, and MP3 Mono for Pearson.

Overall, I produced around 784 pieces of individual audio from the three hour recording session, ranging from new vocabulary reads, storiy reads, joke questions, and answers; as well as general information pieces of audio that were recorded by the voiceover. These are now in use by Pearson Education with E-Learning modules in schools; that are used by children and teachers up and down the country. With parents & children also able to access the e-learning sites at home.

Nice thought to know that the files I've mastered are being heard across the Country. Equally nice to hear that further projects from the recording studio relating to Pearson are coming my way to edit.

Need your audio mastered, or any other audio produced? See the Audio Production page here.

You may have noticed slight changes in the website recently, slight tweaks to pages and the overall design. All these changes now make it even easier for you to listen to more of the work I produce.

    Listen direct from the homepage:

The homepage now has my two current demos/showreels at the forefront, making them easier to listen to.

    Listen to Imaging:

The Imaging Production page now not only has the Imaging demo available, but samples of recent work too. Plus, from the page you can download my demo in MP3 format.

    Listen to Audio Production:

The Audio Production page now not only has the audio production demo available; but will have forever changing clips of audio work produced by myself. And like the imaging page; you'll be able to download my MP3 demo straight from that page.
